Bugs in Art

Beautiful bugs by Mike Southern, Portland artist - available at etsy. I like the "natural pose" he drew into this etching. I generally like bugs in art, much more than life
Here is his beetle. As his description says "nice madibles!"

hi susan, i love the insect prints. you should try to find some images of joel peck's work. he was my intaglio professor at cornell and his work revolves around insects, but much more narrative than scientific.

i think the beetle is 3x4 inches and the dragonfly wasn't marked in etsy - my guess is around the same size ..

Oooooh...like that dragonfly. Have a nice weekend, Susan!

Oh, these are beautiful. The illustration of the dragonfly looks like a real dragonfly was pressed into the paper. Brings to mind heiroglyphics.
