More winter paintings tumbling out. Here is "Igel in Winter". Working on springtime in the fantasy forest. Something about painting keeps it all sane this time of year. Or is that true most anytime? It is also my IF entry - as painting HELPS me through the busy times, by slowing me down. And the Igel, is one helpful animal... eats those garden slugs! Find more help here at
Illustration Friday. Have a great weekend!

I'm itching to pull out my paints this week...I think you're right.
Love your winter scene...the little hedgehogs are killing me!
hedgehogs are the cutest things ever to me. there was one near my husband's place in germany which we visited often at night - he was sort of asmatic and wheezey sounding. i so wish i could have one in my garden to control the slugs!
I love hedgehogs! So what are you planning to give away for the 5 items on the meme? More hedgehogs maybe?

this illo of yours is so tender and peaceful... beautiful, Susan!
I want to visit this world...very serene.
So cute!
too cute! Once a family of hedgehogs lived in our garden!
This is absolutely adorable ! I love it !
another one... love the colors ! Are hedgehogs the same thing as woodchucks ??
I've never actaully seen a real hedgehog. I've seem them photogrpahed, painted, drawn, turned into foot scrapers, nail brushes, and Chia Pets, but never a real one. Your little hedgehoggies are precious. I love the line up of animals and trees against that pale winter sky, and i really like the tall tree with the lone bird. Yes...painting does help get through the winter days, although so far we've had a mild season here. Happy holidays to you:>
Very nice work.
This is adorable. I enjoy your art and reading about your gallery in this blog.
This has got such a lovely wintry feel, and I just adore those hedgehogs!
Merry Christmas Susan!
Simon. :o)
Cute and delicate.
I love this little animal. I took one as a kid...and the little creature pretended being dead until I put him on the floor!
I also like the painting! Such delicate and calm.
How very sweet .. funnily enough, come to think of it - I've never seen a real live hedgehog either! I look forward to the day that my jack russell Jim comes nose to nose with one! At least the hedgehog would be protected with all his spines...

I love it!
And hedgehogs!
A favorite story from my childhood was one about a hedgehog who finds an apple in the snow and gives it to his wife for a Christmas present.
I also love your new banner! So charming, bright and wintery.
It looks as though the hedgehogs will need help getting something to eat. I really like the bird sitting up on the tree. Nice work. Simple and clear.
I love little hedgehogs, their faces are so cute. And that tuft of hair on the top of their heads, hehehe.
This is a perfect winter scene. Calming and magical.
I`m called Susan too and I live in Hampshire in the UK. I like your artwork, it looks cheerful and fun. If you`d like to see mine have a look at artistsprogress.blogspot.com I`d love to know what you think. The first picture posted is of bluebell woods which I think you don`t get in the USA. KInd Regards,
Sue
