White on White

I love white. What can I say? Sometimes just a little gesso and white ink can make me the happiest. This is not art, but somehow, it just made me happy to put this together today. How is your Wednesday coming along ...

Foundling :: beautiful jewelry

Busy busy today getting some deadlines met - but not too busy to show you our newest find in the jewelry case: Foundling! Betsy from foundling contacted us about her lovely line right before christmas and we were so pleased to be introduced to her work. Each piece is an original, something near and dear to us - and each piece has a hidden story just waiting to be shared. Here is a link to her place in our shop and to her blog. This Ikebana necklace would be so perfect for that special person on V-Day!

My new journal and a little life story

my totally spiffy new 2010 journal!!!!
I just opened this fabulous package from Darryl Berger aka "red-handed" with my brand spankin new 2010 journal. Which is so perfect as it took me until today to really be "in" 2010. Too much life going on here.
the one who went ... not feeling great, but lovely none the less.
Last night we got daughter Grace off to France via a trip to Boston. She had caught a cold two days ago which was a bit of a mess, but she managed a couple of photos for us. I must thank the universe for sending us perfect weather for the day -- made it completely uneventful, yet there was moisture in the area of our faces a bit at the "good-bye" stage. We are completely thrilled for her and know she is going to love living her life long dream of living and studying in France.
two of the three left behind
So all in all, it's been a great start to the year, but now, I can start the organizing part and put it to page in my spiffy new diary. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, here, the sun is out and it making our hearts a little lighter today!

Quilt :: finished!

the back and front, originally uploaded by artstreamstudios.

Oh the good good feeling of finishing a project. This one took over two years. No three years now that I think about it ... which I don't want to do. It all started with a page of simple directions which seemed like even I could do, so I jumped in. Got a lot of help a long the way and owe much much to my dear Rainer for helping make the seams a little straighter and fixing my messes... but now it's done. It may travel to France next week. It's for daughter Grace and she loves it. Yippee for finished work! Click through to see more photos of the never ending quilt.

Valentines by Bell'Invito

Anna sent these beautiful Valentine's Day cards over to my inbox yesterday and I had to share them with you. The stationery line from Bell'Invito is simply divine and these slightly off the regular V-Day sentiment cards are too. Beautiful and available here.

BFF

Just a cute little post about two good friends - friends from birth, literally, who even though don't see each other often enough, pick up right where they left off and have a ball. As tradition has it, we always took their photos on the step into the kitchen. Here they are. Garce and Loreal.

Megan Bogonovich :: Mt Tamalpias

Mt Tamalpias, originally uploaded by good night irene.

Megan and Chuckie are on their honeymoon. I have to post this photo they had on their flickr stream because it just reminds me so much of her work. Which by the way, is on exhibit currently AND they will be in our next exhibition: It Takes Two as a couple. Stay tuned for more couples and their work over the next two weeks!

Mysterious footprints

Taken today out back in the garden. My poor abandon planter, and some tracks in the snow. I think I know who made them, but I can't be sure. I do love the shadows though. We get such wonderful shadows in the winter.
The planter is coming in this weekend and will be planted up with succulents and herbs too, I think. I envision sort of a tiny jungle emerging to fill my lust for green this winter. Yes, it's getting to me already and it's only January.

Lisa DeJohn :: beautiful sunny prints!

lisa dejohn
lisa dejohn

Just some bright and pretty Monday morning eye candy from Lisa DeJohn. Part of our IPS2 show, there are still some lovely affordable prints left to go. I think that these three would look great together on a long wall. Check them all out here!

Life in the fast lane

on the rocks one of my monotypes i am working on a set of these
Saturdays come and go too quickly sometimes and well, it is always a bit of a rush here at home. ... during the season of boarding, basketball, full swing art classes and changing gallery shows. But somehow Rainer and I were able to sneak away tonight for a little fun. We thought we were heading to Pepperland for some delightful drinks and dinner and maybe a show at Elysium Folk Club, but it all got switched around when we landed on the doorstep of Pepperland only to find that they were out on vacation until Monday. Sigh! What to do? Where to go? We were curious about a new place called Relish - that we drove by but then somehow ended up in Dover having an Indian, (giving the place a second chance after two strikes) and it was good, then meandered around ending up at the movies of all places. I needed a laugh I guess because I nearly cried from laughing so hard at It's Complicated. I admit it. I still love Steve Martin and well, just who in the world doesn't love Meryl Streep? So that was it in nutshell. A great evening after a somewhat crazy get nothing accomplished day. Tomorrow - finishing up some printmaking! Enjoy the rest of the weekend... it's flying by.

Bluebell Bazaar :: posters and prints

Bluebell Bazaar is so much fun to visit. I think these two paper items are quite special. Sometimes vintage just hits the spot. These for different reasons of course ... and different rooms.

Tim Wirth : an installation

This past summer artstream did an installation of a large number of Tim Wirth's paintings in a local business. The offices were very bland and on a "racetrack" sort of arrangement. Luckily Tim's work and the owner's keen eye for fine art was a good match. Totally beautiful now in the end and looking forward to Tim's solo show here this summer. I especially love the Clear Lake Police piece which people see when they enter the side hallway. Oh yes, and the "Act like you know nothing" one as you turn the corner. HA! Makes the workplace a little more upbeat, a little more fun a little more alive, n'est pas?

Like to eat?

Well, I started a little food blog. For special reasons. Go visit it here. Let me know what you think? Good day today. Lots of thinking time. Goodness knows I needed that. See you tomorrow!

One of my contacts, Carol W at flickr paints some beautiful porcelain. It makes me smile - and a smile is always a great way to start off a Monday! Her shop is here
