Foundling :: beautiful jewelry

Busy busy today getting some deadlines met - but not too busy to show you our newest find in the jewelry case: Foundling! Betsy from foundling contacted us about her lovely line right before christmas and we were so pleased to be introduced to her work. Each piece is an original, something near and dear to us - and each piece has a hidden story just waiting to be shared. Here is a link to her place in our shop and to her blog. This Ikebana necklace would be so perfect for that special person on V-Day!

Liz Kalloch - beauty in the eQuinox

Liz Kalloch's vibrant wall of art!

one evening and song of revival
These lovely mixed media paintings are part of our eQuniox exhibition - all the way from (relatively) sunny San Fransisco. How nice to feel the warmth right now here in NH from these pieces. They are a riot of color and simply radiate from the walls. I will let the photos do the talking here. All in the shop and ready to ship out right away to you!

rooster by Abby Glassenberg
Abby Glassenberg just sent us three new birds for our flock here at artstream. Included in this round are a wise old owl, a carmel bird who is sweeter than sweet, and one proud rooster! They are now on the shop and ready to fly away to your homes... or perhaps as a beautiful autumn gift for someone?

Affirmations - Grace rides again

Amy Rice has a way with color. This fall our colors in the studio ring with vibrant Affirmations in hues of turquoise, reds and yellows. People passing by the gallery have stopped, come in and commented on the large zinnia pieces reminding them that their gardens are almost through.
This particular piece from Amy just gives me that joy of being ten again, having the world on a string and wind in my hair. What a wonderful way to fly - on your favorite Schwinn through the garden.

New Artist: Boyan:sneak peek

At artstream, we are introducing some new artists to our gallery in the coming weeks. The first one I would like to give you a sneek peek from is Boyan. Yesterday he dropped by with the pots we had ordered a month ago and all I can say is WOW. Boyan is from Bulgaria and has married an American, Anna, and works like crazy in his NH studio. His ability to throw a perfect pot is incredible and he also loves to just make things. The pots he has created for us are in white and will be also coming in stock in a delicious shade of yellow a little later on. So here is the peek of Boyan unloading his pots and a close up group shot of the work itself.
This weekend we will be doing the photo shoots of the work and it will be in the gallery and in our online shop. His work starts with miniature bowls at $8.50 - and ranges to bowls ($26-$40) , plates and oooh wait till you see his mugs ($15) Affordable handmade beauty.

Mary O'Malley - Bird Head II

Bird Head II, originally uploaded by artstreamstudios.
This crowned bird just makes me smile. The vibrancy of the colors and the placement on the paper is just perfect. Mary O'Malley's work is intricate, delicate and boldly modern in each and every piece. See more at her site here and in our shop. In the fall she will be at the Decordova Museum exhibiting.

stacey esslinger tea pot

stacey esslinger tea pot, originally uploaded by artstreamstudios.

We just opened up some new beautiful ceramics from stacey esslinger- a nh artist who has been making handbuilt ceramics with her family heirlooms now for about 5 years.
This teapot has a matching sugar and creamer and teacups. It is so incredibly made that a mere photograph does it little justice...buttons and texture with a form that is quite unique....she slipglazes all the details. Makes my head spin! In the shop this week. Click through the photo to see more of what we unpacked!

Heather Palmer in a design magazine from Israel

We just got the magazine from Israel (and what a beautiful design magazine this is!) with Heather Palmer's work in it.So deserving and what a good fit with the other work on this page. We sent photos a few months ago and I had forgotten about it so it was a surprise when it landed here today!
Click through the image to browse some other pages from the magazine. I am not huge on photographing magazines, but this one is just incredible!

Amy Rice has arrived!

hold on - stencil handcolored original
After long last, (I am impatient!) the lovely work of Amy Rice has appeared at artstream! New work in the shop under her own category can be found here. It is a breath of springtime with chicks, birds, girls and bunnies along with some hollyhocks -(here's hoping mine bloom this year!) and my favorite teacup flowers - "feeding the habit"
Amy will be exhibiting in a show with us in September - but you will be able to find her work with us year round. And we couldn't be happier!

Tara hogan - conversations with a peacock II

More delicate beauty from Stories and Tales. This piece by Tara Hogan of (Ink and Wit fame too) makes me think that spring is on the way. It is wonderfully delicate and strong at the same time. Lots to do tonight so off to the paint/patch shuffle step!

Hadley Hutton

modern peony 8x8 inches $190 encaustic
We have some beautiful new Hadley Hutton pieces now available in the shop. They are so bright and spring like I just have to walk by them a few times each day to remind myself this snow will pass. Hadley's work is highly detailed with much care and expertise taken in execution. The paintings bring the viewer to a restful place looking deeper below the top layer to find more detail below. Each piece is an original and each work a special piece of spring for your wall. Sigh!

Time

Oops! Where did yesterday go? Filled with art meetings, mailings, phone calls, and last minute details it slipped away. A day like yesterday reminds me to remember the details of the important pieces of each day. Like breathing, eating, self appreciation and the love of comfortable shoes. Today we are packing up work for Design Miami.... so I will leave you with these tidbits!
A couple of newsy bits-
Our designer extraordinare, (Rainer!) has updated our shop with a nice winter-y look and fun banner - do take a look if you have a moment. More goodies hopping in today and tomorrow. Everything we sell is handmade and most everything is one of a kind. Did you take the pledge yet? More holiday items to come...

New prints from Sub-Studio going in to the shop today from their "Seeking Light" collection of pen and ink drawings. So affordable and lovely! ($25!)

My personal shop over at etsy is holding a holiday sale with new items going in over the weekend. Yes, the calendar will be unveiled then too! Above is a little sneak peek of the original artwork. New illustration format this year - with a little DIY bonus. stay tuned!

gray and rust colored orb with lines

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend with sunshine and family, good times and perhaps some creative outlet? We spent most of our weekend outside, picking apples, walking and driving through the perfect New Hampshire roadways filled with changing leaves warm weather and a two language conversation. Because of our travels I neglected the shop a bit so to answer some questions - the work is going in today! We made a new section with just new arrivals, so you can find them easily there first.
Sarah Burns work is always available in our shop under ceramics and when she is an exhibitor those works also go under the current exhibition too. Pop over to the shop for prices and sizes.
Cooling off here today, so time to pull out those woolies!

The bases are made from turned mahogany (by Sarah's father) and are simply lovely singularly or in a group.

Gocco: lobster cards and envelopes

Yes, I have been going crazy with my little Gocco. Every moment printng and playing. I took my lobster drawing from last winter and decided to do a two color card for our shop at artstream. I first did some prints on heavyweight vellum for later use else where, but decided that we needed lobster cards. I have two different kinds of cards. One on Strathmore paper going into our shop on Monday, October 1st and one on smooth white cards going into my etsy shop then too.
The cards are two screens and the envelopes have the wave screen on them. A little wave to surf your stamp on!
We at Chez Schwake are off to our very first family weekend at college with daughter Grace. Excited? You bet!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Sarah Burns split jar

Sarah Burns split jar, originally uploaded by artstreamstudios.

Oh how I love Sarah's work. Yes, I am a ceram-a-holic. I know it and thank goodness I can live with all this lovely work each day in the gallery. Makes me very happy...
This one off jar is a soda fired stoneware which is more sculptural than most functional ware. I love the ridges the twirly tops and the fact you can play with it to make it look differently each time you use it. Open, closed, back to front. Fun!
Go to the shop on Monday and choose from four different works. They are all very special!
