A little break till Monday ...

me with my favorite sculptor's work at the moma...
I have been experiencing a little fatigue on all levels, so am taking some time off until Monday from all work and some play (like here) and (here) ... to rest and paint and play with my daughter and some friends. See you next week chickadees!

The Working Proof : "on the rocks"

I am so thrilled to announce that I was asked to print "On the Rocks" (edition of 50) for The Working Proof! It's being released today at 1:30 p.m EST - but here is a sneak view of the site which all their newsletter subscribers got yesterday. 15% of the sale of my prints will go to Doctors without Borders.

These prints are all original monotypes with hand painted birds. It was challenging to do 50, but a lot of fun nonetheless! I hope that you will take a look at The Working Proof, if you haven't already. It's a wonderful place to give and get all at the same time. The Working Proof is yet another wonderful brainchild of that fabulous couple from Sub-Studio, Anna Corpron and Sean Auyeung.

How to be wild at heart

I found this today and thought it was quite worth posting.
I might actually have to make a painting of it. via here.

Getting away from it all ...

the pink/red barn across from the historic beaver mill
the pretty white porch in the house where we stayed
And collapsing. Rainer and I took off to the great state of Massachusetts. Over to the western portion of the state where the hills are pressed together like Parker House rolls and the tiny little cities are all shades of grey, this time of year. Grey buildings, grey factories, grey pavement and grey trees. Lots and lots of grey trees. Grey skies with the occasional blue patch popping through. The snow which there was very little of was indeed grey too. On our little tool around town however we met up with this fabulous red-pink barn which cheered me enormously. That and the bright colors of Sol Lewitt's wall paintings. And quiet time on the red red couch with my husband. What did you do this weekend?
i had/have a cold, but enjoyed it so much anyway.

Art in the corporate setting

On Monday we installed a variety of artwork which our client, Laconia Savings, chose for their new branch. It always makes me feel good to know that original art will touch the lives not only the employees -- but the customers of the business which houses the work, on a daily basis.

Enhabiten :: new pillows and bolsters at artstream!

The lovely and talented Liane paid us a visit at artstream late last week. Her work is a joy to behold and we are thrilled to have it in the gallery now! It will all appear in the shop early this week, so stay tuned for that!
Photos above snapped whilst she was unloading her wares. She is too cute for words and very talented to boot. Speaking of boots - I should have had a photo of the boots she was wearing, I loved em!

The Brelli

Oh rain rain go away -- sunshine too much to take? Better get a Brelli! These lovely sun/rain umbrellas are simply stunning. I have always loved the way Chinese paper parasols look and these have a similar look but with this neat modern twist. Two sizes so you can share if you need to... get one here and here's what the Brelli people have to say:
he sunBRELLI is the new "rain or shine" BRELLI that protects you from the rain and has a revolutionary 99% UVA/UVB protection from the sun's rays. And of course it is 100% biodegradable. Choose either the tidy 37" diameter version or the "golf size" 52" diameter version.

Julia Rothaman and the MTA

Julia Rothman has created a piece for the MTA in NYC. We love her work and this piece is spectacular! I really like the way she captured the Brooklyn Bridge from below a bit. You can purchase this poster right here. Just go to posters and scroll down to Arts for Transit to find it. Also check out her work created with her husband Matt Longacre in our show right now which is just perfect for that special valentine I might add!

Burst of color : Marimekko love

photos from alwaysmod.com
I love Marimekko. I always have. I always will. These patterns are just calling my name by whispering "spring"... This week I am acquiring an old Victorian couch and chair. I want to tackle the redo of it with Marimekko. I just have to decide which one. Here is a link to some of these lovely fabrics.

It Takes Two - the opening!

Hello Monday! What a wonderful packed weekend we enjoyed - from the show hanging on Wednesday night to the final piece being the opening on Saturday evening. It was a fun time with "pairs or go together" nibbles (thanks for the great idea Amber) of "snow peas and baby carrots" chips and dip (sweet potato and hummus) strawberries and chocolate and of course Recees cups (pb and chocolate). But besides that, the evening was so enjoyable with patrons hailing from all over. Two lovely women read about the event on design*sponge and made the trip up from Boston, Mati's parents and friends stopped by, Scott Patt and Lisa DeJohn and Megan and Chuckie were on hand to answer questions about their art. And a lot of couples! Ah love! Above scenes from the evening.
Thanks to Lisa Congdon too this morning for a lovely write up on Poppytalk!

It Takes Two - down to the wire

There was so much moving about last night here at the gallery - but things started to fall into place and now we are throughly thrilled with the final outcome of the show. Here are a couple, but more will come tomorrow - promise when the sun is back! Megan Bogonovich dropped off her sculptures and her husband Chuckie's pieces, so the exhibition is complete! I am thrilled the way her cube vases play against Julia Rothman and Matt Longacre's work so well.
It's going to be a grand opening on Saturday night - so it would be wonderful to see all you all for some fun then too - 5-7 pm!

Building back the gallery ..

Today is mess about day. It's fun to organize exhibitions, reinvent the space we look at each day and think about the concept of the show. This one is so near and dear to my heart. So, lots to do and little time to post here, but here are a couple of fun quick links that you might enjoy! Hope the sun is shining on your part of the world today...

All about Chocolat!

By now if you have been reading along here, you know that one of my daughters is living in France. Ooooh la la! She is studying in Rennes and literally killing us with the delish photos of food she is consuming on a daily basis. Her first day there she was a little sad and missed us all, so she consoled herself with her friends and duck for lunch. SIGH. But the above photo has been on my mind since I saw it at her new little blog which acts as her memoirs of the experience. Macadamia nut hot chocolate with a side of fudgy chocolate cake and whipped creme! Manifique! It was so rich apparently that they had so serve it with a little side of water. I guess life is "sweet" in France!
