Fragiles - Belgium!

with unusual growth -Megan Bogonovich
Well, we endured a wet snowstorm yesterday, with off and on electricity so no posting here at the blog. Catching up today with a new Lovely Hearts popped into the shop - do stop by and check out the goodness there!
I also wanted to point you lovely European readers towards the Belgium exhibition of Fragiles. February 15th to the 24th - Fragiles will be shown at Arne Quinze's Gallery 113 in Kortrijk, Belgium. This is the second showing and new work from the Miami exhibition will be included. Megan Bogonovich's pieces have traveled there with the show and we are thrilled to be a part of the journey. If you missed it in Miami, perhaps you will see it in Belgium!

hot chocolate time

hot chocolate time, originally uploaded by artstreamstudios.

yeah, it's Friday. Hard to know isn't it?
This is just a little post to show my favorite purchase of 2007. At a local thrift store in town I found this little four cup beauty. As we use a coffee press, I designated it to the hot chocolate duty.
It is perfect. Four cups for $5. What a steal. Is everyone enjoying time away? What are you doing?
We had some nice company at the gallery today. Teeni and her husband popped by for a look and went home with some lovely pieces. What a good eye she has! (and really nice person to boot)
Enjoying the snow here with beautiful morning skies and a little extra napping time each day. Very splendid indeed. Enjoy your weekend and start thinking about your Lovely Hearts pieces. Here is a local article on the show last year. Posting the skinny on this year's exhibition on Monday here. Until then, have a wonder filled weekend!

Lovely Hearts, Lovely evening!

Whew, what a weekend! Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who created work, bought work, came to the opening, and supported the show through your shout outs and badge posting! Of course some of you did a number of things on that list and achieved angel status. You people know who you are...
But it's not really over yet ... even though we had over 100 people through the doors last night, the online shop still has some amazing work left! It was rather busy, so I didn't get as many photos as I would have liked to, but check out my flickr on the side bar for some and I expect to receive a few more photos by tomorrow by friends who attended and will post them there pronto. What a wonderful evening. Thank you all! We will get a tally at the end of the month and let you know what we will be sending to BCRF.

egglove + k style

egg love by me 6 x 6 inches acrylic and ink on canvas

Great news - Hop on over to K Style on Saturday for a slide show featuring the lovely hearts
entries, made by K! A huge hug goes out to her for helping promote the event and for coming up with the slide show idea. For the most part, everything else is ready to go for the opening on Saturday night. Just the chocolate to melt on Saturday and the bubbly punch to prepare! Thanks to Karen yet again ... what a lovely heart she is! it feels good to finally finish my own lovely hearts!

Spring?

The hope of spring is tucked inside a blustry frozen packet of winter outside this morning. Nothing like zipping by the thermometer and seeing -6F. The tulips above by Angela Gwinner, give me hope. That and a really hot cup of espresso this morning. Angela's print is for sale here for $50 at the Lovely Hearts exhibition. (with much less caloric value than chocolate and so very hopeful of spring!)

Estyn Hulbert

Estyn Hulbert, originally uploaded by artstreamstudios.

This necklace is created from a goldplated chain and freshwaterpearls.
Estyn Hulbert creates beautiful jewelry in Brooklyn, NY. She sent us this lovely heart submission and has a wonderful website here which explains her process and materials. Thank you Estyn!

Judith Heller Cassell "Target Practice"

Sometimes a title of an artwork evokes such emotion.
Judith does this again and again with her works.
Here is her lovely heart sculpture which stands about 5 inches high.
Made from wax, a limb of a tree and metal, it pierces my heart!

Hearts, hearts and more hearts

This weekend was full - ending last night with a "salon" at some dear friends home. Among the guests was Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich and his lovely wife. He spoke informally for awhile and his words rang true to my ears. Lots of wonderful music was played by Regina Delany on her Irish harp and some wonderful fiddlers played some traditional dancing "dee- del- lee- dee" music so we could all grab a partner and dance a reel. Nice ending to all the work I had been doing with the lovely hearts for two days straight! I still have a little way to go, so bear with me, if you don't see your heart on our main site or in the shop yet. It's coming! Promise. I heard there was a football game last night too, I do hope it was fun for all of you who watched it!

We promised great tunes for our Lovely Hearts opening and we plan on delivering!
Chris Wilhelm from Boston, has agreed to play at our event with his acoustic guitar and haunting voice. Close to 120 pieces of artwork have arrived at the gallery or are en route today - all of which will appear in the gallery shop and our artstreamstudios website soon! Make your choices now, shipping will be directly to you right after the event! Some work is already sold, but a lot of beautiful new items are being put in the shop this weekend.
Thank you to Andrea Kulish for introducing Chris to our gallery and event. Click here for a preview of his music. Come to the event for the live version.

Edibeth Farrington + Kathy Mack

Lots of photos to show, so will keep this text short and sweet. Lovely Hearts from encaustic artist Edibeth Farrington. Of course photos do nothing for this white surface, but trust me, they are gorgeous! Kathy Mack from one of my favorite blogs Pink Chalk studios sent this amazingly beautiful piece along to me yesterday - Pieced Heart #4. More hearts in flickr, more to come here. Off to catalog, these and more coming to the shop soon!

Lovely Hearts

Willie Baronet print of "flowers weaving color" 8x10
We have received so many requests for a "little more time" on entries for the Lovely Hearts exhibition, that being the soft heart, we buckled in. No excuses now folks, you have until January 31st, midnight eastern seaboard time to get those entries in.
That will mean however, if you are more than a week's mailing time away, you will have to hasten your shipping service to us. We need all the entries in hand by Feb. 8th so we can put the work into exhibition.
Thank you all to each and everyone of you who has sent work in to us already! I am chipping away at getting them into the shop so people can purchase these lovely hearts. Shipping of items will be after the opening on Feburary 10th.
I am going to try and get as many entries into the blog over the next two weeks too - so bear with me, they are coming! Thanks too, for all the blog support of this project!

Illustration Friday

Fun and games again as it's Friday, Illustration Friday.. this is called Granny Love. She's an old fairy - in her 80's. Tee-hee. (the prompt was 80's) She is part of my two minute sketches I started a few nights ago before bed. They are all on 6 by 6 inch heavyweight paper so it doesn't bend while I draw in bed.
Illustration Friday is so much fun and today I was shocked by being "Pick of the Week". Oh my goodness, what an honor! Thank you Penelope! Go over and see some real 80's sort of entries, you know, big hair, shoulder pads and what not. Oh yes! Don't forget to make your lovely heart too!

Sculpture Show + Lovely Hearts

Lots of busy-ness this past week in the gallery. Thank you for the earlybird submissions to the Lovely Hearts exhibition! There is an entire two walls being held for those lovely hearts to pour into... just waiting to see what you all come up with! Beautiful beaded lovlies from Sandy
and Stephanie - and some two dimensional work which I dont have links for - but will put up into the shop pronto! We are completely loving the different media pouring in! Something crochet and/or knitty would be lovely ... hint hint Regina... or perhaps quilty or postcardy would be neat too...
You will see a few to start at the shop this coming week, where they will be cataloged until the sale begins on Feb. 10th. Preview them here at the shop.
Still feeling a bit "punky" so I will let the photos help tell the story. (hmm, if I am really feeling punky, maybe I should whip out some Meat Puppets music and really get into it)

The word for the day is ... please supply it in the comments section ... ah - choo, and thank you!
