Seen and Unseen

A new show went up last night here at the gallery. Three locally talented women - Amber Lavalley (our wonderful wonderful intern), Judith Heller Cassell, and Mary Bullock - plus our good buddy sculptor -Adam Pearson. We are thrilled to house such local talent and proud of the mix so stop by tonight if you are in our little city from nibbles and sips from 5-7 p.m. The show will also feature for the month eleven new monotypes by Edibeth Farrington. They are holding the Lovely Hearts place for February!

Let me introduce, Amber Lavalley

Here she is folks, one of the newest artists added to our gallery- Amber Lavalley. I did a quick sneak peek of her work a month ago, but here are her smaller affordable works which we are popping into the shop as you read this. She has a small series of $150 mixed media paintings which are inspired by period style beds. I can't say enough about her work, so why don't you just go take a little gander yourself at them? She is in our January Show, which will focus on her larger works. She is also one of our two INVALUABLE interns without whom I would not have been able to survive the past month. She earned her BFA from Montserrat Collage of Art in 2004 and has worked in Boston for the past two years at a gallery there. We are very excited about her work! We are thrilled to have her help at the gallery - thank you Amber!

I am pleased to introduce Amber Lavalley's artwork to you here today. Amber is one of our two interns who helps us here at the gallery. Her work was unveiled today and we will be featuring it in a show next year. Amber holds a BFA in painting from Montserrat college in Boston. The mixed media paintings you see here are just the tip of the iceberg - this emerging artist has a unique beautiful style and has exquisite handling of her media. Thoughts of masks and mark making are exhibited within her work, which is at times deeply personal, yet doesn't alienate the viewer.
I love her color choices and her sense of history and love of what has come before is ever present in each piece. Enjoy this sneak peek into Amber Lavalley's work, more to come.
