ink/watercolor/caran d'arche/golden paint 5"x7"
The first thing I thought of on this beautiful summer's day when I heard IF's prompt -
match... was the story of the little match girl. No idea why. But here is my version I whipped up just for this, today. She is all a-flame with her last three matches glowing and the sky opening up for her. Too wintery for you? Yeah ... me too. So I showed another match here ...
Go see more "matches" at Illustration Friday.

wow, lovely watercolor!!
nice atmosphere! it draws me into the picture =) good job
yes, great atmosphere. mooning over that blue moon!
I thought of the the little match girl too, but the weather here in London is rather gloomy...your painting though is anything but. I love it. Yes, it's melancholic, but that gold is so warming.
I especially like how the blue moon compliments the orange flame.
It may be wintery but it is just glowing.
Reminds me of cozy winter nights curled up with a good book.
Susan, I really like this one, not too wintery for me, as it is 104 again today in Dallas. :-)
Travel safe.
I thing it's beautiful!
