my angel of avignon micron pen on sketchbook page 5/14/06
Again and Again
Again and again, however we know the landscape of love
and the little churchyard there, with its sorrowing names,
and the frighteningly silent abyss into which the others fall:
again and again the two of us walk out together under the ancient trees, lie down again and again among the flowers,
face to face with the sky.
Rainer Maria Rilke
I did an sketch of an angel inspired by the one we found in Avignon, France.... I took this photo of the most beautiful angel in the summer of 03 when it was devilishly hot!
The lovely poem by my favorite poet, replaces the word of the day.
Happy Mother's day to all!

She appears to be standing guard...
beautiful poem for a beautiful angel
This is a gorgeous photo. You can practically feel the heat Perhaps inspiration for a future painting? Happy Mother's Day Susan, I hope you have a great weekend.
Happy Mother's day to you! Bright blue! Avignon! When are you coming back to my piece of the sky?
115! That is devilishly hot. Happy Mother's Day, Susan. I hope you get spoiled!
Beautiful words by Rilke--that blue, so vast in this photograph...it looks like a pool, not like devilish heat. The eye can be led astray...
Lovely lovely Susan! And a wonderful Mothers day to you!
here comes the illustration!
sorry bout the photo... it inspired this scribble.
:)
I love your inspiration and your drawing is sweet and loving!!!
your work is wonderful. i strayed away from fine art for a while and realized that it is my very heart and soul. getting to check out new things that other people do, especially when you keep a sketchbook, the most important thing, i think in any arts field, it just does so much for me. thanks!
Great angel sketch ! :)
good flowing lines - and suitably inscrutable expression!
I love this!
Hey, are you familiar with the exhibits, 100 See God and 100 See Satan? They were group exhibitions here in Southern California. Both were amazing.
Happy Belated Mothers' Day to you:> Your angel looks as light as air but still stands strong. The poem is so beautiful...the rhythm and repetition speaks both of the human desire to live and love as well as the inevitable end we come to. What a great combination!
