Scoop of life

This week has already proven to be filled with adventure and summer splendiferous-ness. Big party for 14 yr. old Chloe on Monday, packing and shipping a lot of artwork to live in new exciting places, fun little workshops with kids and adults and packing for aforementioned teen to bustle off to summer camp this weekend. Squeezing in the hanging of an inaugural show at a new off site location in town ( a new huge wing of our local hospital has opened and they put in a small gallery space which we are curating and maintaining) and some speed weeding of the garden has me looking forward to the weekend.
I finally got (after three years of waiting and saving) an electric palette for my encaustic painting. no. more. griddle. I have saved it for this weekend to fire it up. Ya - hoo! I have a body of work started in acrylic for the summer painting session and some of the works will translate into encaustic pieces.
What are the scoops about? Well, I think they represent the right number of hands I would love to have right about now in the week... and they are little vintage finds available at my little flohmarkt shop.

It gave up the go...

a moment of silence please.
Our car has passed over to the greenfields of eternal parking.
Where the grass is soft, the metermaids are always at lunch and the tires never go bald.
At least the sun was shining brightly today for the event. Freezing rain would have done me in.
Above is one of our favorite guys around, Bob. He did his best. He gave it his all. It's over.
Ah well, we have our health, our undying love for each other, a great business, amazing friends, and adorable children. That's the true perspective. Cars are simply a freakin pain in the arse. Yeah, the car died, but really, it's just a great opportunity to introduce you to Bob, his "office" and his amazing license plate collection.
(for those of you who knew donald, bob is really his twin brother from different mothers)

Merry Christmas Antics

new wave cookies by chloe
OK, going personal here, so click right outta here if you must.
But this much fun has to be recorded...
We had so much cooking fun tonight in kitchen chez esprit!
Lively lively christmas baking! We had all intentions of listening to the "new" christmas carols - you know, Sarah sings Silent night, something sweet by Jack Johnson ... Rudolf ? and what ever else the girls have been downloading free from iTunes this past month ...
but then, suddenly in between snickerdoodle production, chocolate crinkles, and two newbie just made for the first time receipes (see photo below) -- Talking Heads popped into the mix. Whoa!
That's all it takes. Iggy Pop followed - then - June Bug by The B52's. Chaos!
Spatulas spinning, mits a clapping, pans of sweet holiday cheer overbaking, the kitchen mosh pit appeared. Things broke down into a dance fest, with a finale of a spontaneous filming of two silly girls dancing to the Numa Numa song to send to their friends in Germany.
Say no more, the cookies were completed for tonight and then will be delivered tomorrow. I guess our evening sort of sums up our life motto - dance and bake while you can for who knows what tomorrow may bring?
(actually, we know full well... daughter #1 has three wisdom teeth coming out early in the a.m.)
So, just a small peek into our kitchen.
Formal fine art and design talk will resume tomorrow. Perhaps with a tad more sophisticated shots of quality baking, our holiday cards fashioned from a linocut and even the cutest gift I have EVER received...
Tomorrow also brings our call for entries to artstream's international Valentines day project!
