orange barn encaustic 12"x12"
Here is an encaustic which I did awhile back, that reminds me of IF's prompt "Farm" It was rendered to show a large barn which I hold dear in my memory from my growing up in Vermont. Of course the season is high autumn which is always one of the most "farm-like" seasons here in New England. Big white clouds and loads of leaves turning firey colors. Maybe you don't see it ... but that's what it is all about.
Get down on the farm with Illustration Friday this week!
The word for the day is ... recovery ... as in a lot of naps, resting up for the big stuff and that operation which you do when you lose memory from your computer!

Very beautiful painting!
P.S. Do you make your own encaustics btw Susan..? Because Kremer Pigments has lots of terrific pigments if you want to go that route..where I work :)

The "feel" of a NEW ENGLAND farm comes across beautifully. You've deinitely captured it.
Love the warm colours. You so make me want to try encaustic.
You captured it all perfectly! It feels like leisurely walk on a perfect autumn day. I can hear the turning leaves rustling and feel the chill in the air while warmed by all these gorgeous fall colors. Beautiful.
gorgeous. i love working with encaustic. it is so fast and i love making thick thick layers. yum!
susan. this is beautiful. the moment my eyes laid rest on this painting, i was so drawn in. almost finding something calming and peaceful in the warmth of the reds and oranges. feeling more like earth and a peaceful harvest, than it did of red's normally enpowering energy.
it's beautiful. the word that lingers in my mind.

Oooh, If only I could reach through our computers and touch the surface and smell the beeswax...!
Oh..I do see it! The colors are just so perfect, and the shapes emerge just enough to provide the cues. I think Vermont is one of the most beautiful places I've been, and autumn there is amazing! You've captured that feeling well.
Wow, I like this.
It's perfect Susan. I can feel the warmth of the Autumn day and the see the barn.
This is gorgeous, I could get lost in those colours.
