Coe & Waito

Last week Grace Bonney from design*sponge wrote about Coe & Waito and then Karin did over at Whipup. I was hooked from the first look. Their work is delightful and so very soon you will see it gracing our humble halls at artstream - and here at our shop. Thanks Grace for pointing another great find our way! We love their minimilistic look and the way that sculpture plays a big part of their design. Or is it that they also use lower case letters in their name as we at artstream do? ... Here is an excerpt from their site about them - if you haven't already seen the other posts everywhere already! :
coe&waito is Alissa Coe and Carly Waito. Their porcelain objects are inspired by the emotional effects of nature and material culture. They aim to create quiet objects that have a deep and lasting impact. After meeting five years ago in the Industrial Design program at the Ontario College of Art and Design, Alissa and Carly were drawn to ceramics by the need to make real things. They use techniques such as moldmaking, slipcasting, hand-building, and silk-screening in the creation of these objects. coe&waito’s studio is located in downtown Toronto, Canada

Oh! I almost forgot ... check out Whip up today for my second post there - all about a great project called The Big Draw!
