Capture - embrace

embrace oil/acrylic/charcoal/oilbar 3' x 4.5' on canvas

I finally finished this big painting I had been working on for two years. (!) Talk about slow and taking your time to decide. I am showing it for the Illustration Friday theme of capture. For me, it captures the idea of capturing the moment. Which is why I love visual art. It give me the chance to visually explore a feeling which, however momentary, can change your life forever.

More illustrations of "capture" at Illustration Friday here!

The word for the day is ... sublime ... as in a place which you can only experience and not tell about, the pondering of the beyond, and that creme brulee over at "Pepperland" in South Berwick, ME.

Since the word for the day is Sublime than we can use it to describe your colours, the shapes, the embrace, the feeling and your idea and words!!!

Susan, this is wonderful. It not only captures the moment, it brings it vividly to life. So rich and sensual and timeless.

I'm all over that creme brulee! And two years? Susan, you have a lot of patience. Your use of colour is once again subtle and beautiful. Would love to see this full size.

Beautiful oil painting; love how the figures meld into each other!

Yay, more paintings. I'm generally a lazy reader but I like the art friends.

This is sublime! I love how the two figures seem melded in an emotion that's seemingly transcendental. The patterns at the bottom of the figures seem like pulses of energy, and the warm tones against the cool emphasize that emotional aspect. This is stunning, Susan! You've "captured" my admiration!

Oh.. I think it reminds of Robert Delaunay!! I adore he and Sonia's work and this, definitely a 'Susan' is fabulous! The bold colors are marvelous! Is it for sale?

susan. it's beautiful. and this painting, with this size, i can only imagine that it needed the time for it to find it's complete story... simply because it literally "captures" emotion, passion, relationship, trust. all these things, that take us over the years. and i'm sure this painting grew with you, as all the stories and moments it holds.

my gratitude to you susan, for your art, the way you capture things, the way you express things... but mostly, simply for you.
