Spring Garden

spring garden mixed media on birch

Is it a jungle out there today? It feels like it. Illustration Friday picked this topic today, how serendipitous!
There is nothing like rain, continuous rain, to keep you insde painting on a spring day. I finally finished this and thought I would give you a peek. Lots of paper inclusions, same color palette from the garden series. If I get in gear today, I will finish the last piece of the series entitled "Garden Saint" she is a complete departure for me, according to my critics... (the short young ones)
For more lovely jungles, go see Penelope's Illustration Friday!

The word for the day is ... little ... as in a flicker of hope , a bit of this and that ... and what is left of the week!

Wonderful. I like the little areas of detail, the grid pattern bits.

Oh I love this. My word for the week is going to be "possibilities" and that's what I see in here - lots of glimpses into possible futures - lots of hope!

Beautiful abstract. I love that you have done it on Birch - that completes it as a piece.

I don't know where top begin! The tiled look makes me think a bit of Klimt...there's such wonderful rhythm creatd by the shapes and the color arrangements. In the larger version, I see the paper and texture and hidden images. This is very special and very stunning!

Wonderful! It is such a dynamic paining, with layers to tease and please. Love the reveal/deny approach, as it contributes to the mystery. Love the choice of color –it is both vibrant and soothing.

Susan,
This long shape depicts the idea of a rain in the jungle perfectly, with the shaped pulling the eye down along the way. I like oversized and rectangular shapes best. The reality is more present...thinking outside the box sort of thing. I am amazed at the varied subject matter and mediums you use, honestly a sign of a true artist; when one can dip their paint brush not just in pots of paint..but also use; clay, paper, words, thread, photogrphy etc....like I have said before: Is there anything you cannot do!
Susan you are a brillinat artist!

Susan, love this as always. And can I ask a HUGE favor? I'm very honored to be linked on your blog, but my name is spelled Willie instead of Willy. If you fix this I will love you forever. :-)

Such a beautiful patchwork of color! I can't wait to see the Garden Saint. Please include your thoughts on the finished piece. I enjoy hearing/reading about the inspiration and process an artist follows when creating artwork.
