Lamps which light up your life

Here are a few of my current favorite finds in the illumination department. I find that finely designed lamps in a setting, whether commercial or residential make more impact than most an other single feature of the room. Light after all is something which we all seek. During daylight hours if the lamp or lighting fixture is not in use, it better be something you wish to look at! After working for the past two months with my husband and partner designing a new restaurant interior including a dining room, bistro/coffee house/martini bar I found these lovely lamps (none of which will appear in the new restaurant!) and thought I would share them with you all. (I guess I also had ulterior motives for choosing some lighting for our home as well!)

Here are my favorite picks. What do you think? Is it art? I think so! Illuminatingly so!

Heike Buchfelder's Pluma Cubic made from goose feathers

Louise Hederström Gladys chandelier

Araki Midori's bottle light

The word for the day is ... brighten ... as in pumping up the color, turning up the light and cheering up ones day!

Susan, the goosefeather one is wonderful!!! Did you buy any of these? How fun to do a design with your husband... What did you chose for that space? I love lamps too, but have limited space to use them in our little house...

Oh ulla, me too! I love love love it. If we get to Berlin this summer or soon I would buy that in a heartbeat for my bedroom. I have this total white thing going on in there. Textured white wallpaper, white encaustic painting of Edibeth Farrington (nice trade with her!)white japaneese lights and when we remodeled that room last year, my dear husband put in a full walk in closet with these amazing doors...inside we painted the walls a deep deep blue. I am still looking for the perfect bed to add to the look!
Regarding the resturant, he is in construction now, hoping for a mid July opening, I will take photos. The basic theme is Brooklyn Italian Ganster from the 20's, dining room is formalish family dining with C2 paint colors (the yummiest I could find!) in Tapestry and Black Bean with a mahogany colored flooring... brick in the back on a raised area we created with cozy booths, the bistro/cafe area is C2 Persimmon with Black bean and cornbread (love those names!) and terra cotta colored tile in there - The martini bar (Tony's Office) has a big tinted concrete bar surface (which may change not sure) and a C2 Black bean and Al Green walls with lots of wrought iron detailing and gold colored tile in there. The lighting in the bar will be determined after the concrete bar goes in. This is getting too long.... i will just post pictures when it is done! LOL! Thanks for asking...

Wow -- how different can one lamp be from the next I wonder. Must admit I have a soft spot for the dish detergent lamps. :)

Did I ever tell you that I have a HUGE lamp fetish??? Really, it's scary how much electricity my home sucks up.

I think you would appreciate the chandliers I saw made of vintage forks and spoons.
Or the one made of bottle caps and colorful clothespins, or the one made of earrings...or the one made of teacups, I think I made the last three up, the view of these, plus the fork and spoon light, tickled me into it!

I love them all, but are they fireproof?
