"quiet" old book papers.mixed media/ collage 6 x 8 inches
Quiet is what I think of when I think of my great uncle Fred. He was one of my favorite people ever. Kind, quiet, gentle and gentlemanly. I admired him greatly. He was really a dapper dresser and so this piece I made today as a memory piece from my childhood, going for a walk with him in my red hoodie. I am going to be making more of these memory pieces for the under 30 art section of the shop.

I love this! So simple an sweet. Your uncle sounds like a great person.
ReplyDeleteNice one, Susan. I love how you've used newsprint and kept the figures simple and ... quiet.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely lovely. I love the feeling you get from the newspaper (gives it a bit of a cuty feel) and the white paint (which, like snow, gives it a muted feel and like fog, a memory feel). And you're walking AWAY from the viewer which conveys loss or something in the past. I can't wait to see the others!
ReplyDeleteLovely image, really draws you into the quiet walk. And great idea to do memory pieces.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely piece. I'm sure your Uncle Fred would be pleased as well.
ReplyDeleteI like it very much. With just a few shapes you managed to capture the quiet mood perfectly. I also love the contrasting colours.
