three acrylic on birch 12"x12"
Illustration Friday collided with DIY weekend ... hence the time lapse in posting work.
Here are three ladies out for a stroll on the promenade. It is dark and quite late, so they travel in threes. Safety in numbers their mothers always told them. Hmm or are they fish with heels?
Visit Illustration Friday - just to be safe.
the word for the day is ... safe ... as in a haven, a place to put your valuables and that home base in a game of tag.
Love the colors... and the possibility that these are fish wives of a sort. I'll check back... and see where your gallery is.

ReplyDeleteSo lovely. I like the softness, it makes it feel safe.
ReplyDeleteI like this one, it has a sense of foreboding within the composition and colours!
ReplyDeleteThree broads you say...
ReplyDeleteWell blogger was really messing up when I tried to post my response, but I am glad it got through - really liked your illo.
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrific illustration, Susan. The three women remind me of Japanese geishas walking through a park, wearing bright kimonos and painted white faces.
ReplyDeleteP.S.- I just returned home in the States. Thank you so much for leaving comments while I was away. I'll be sending you a longer email in the next day or so. :)
I love the gentle elegance of these ladies...they're so graceful that they seem to almost float. The colors are just sooo beautiful, and there are wonderful touches that make this simple composition rhythmic...the large horizontal blocks of vertical strokes broken by the curved line of the fence, the way you echo the finials on the fence in the buttons on the ladies. Beautiful, Susan!
