This is my entry for IF's prompt Polar. I imagine that anyone living in that region would feel any sunshine a little bit more "closely" a little "deeper" than anywhere else in the world. I tried to show that here.

This work is wonderful, I love the simplicity of your lines, loose yet still with so much detail even tho just hinted at, the red gloves, cosy fingers, wrapped feet, its all snug against the harshness of the white snow, I imagine a stark white snowy landscape. ReplyDeletei love the illo- it reminds me of when i was in first grade outside for recess..and the teacher wouldn't let me go inside to use the bathroom..so i sat in a snow pile, cried and peed my pants. i had on red mittens.
ReplyDeleteI just look the simple but really perfect composition of this piece! And... the texture and colors! I feel the warmth of the sun of the face! The lines against the broad textured areas look wonderful, and that red mitten brings me back to childhood...

ReplyDelete"Sitting" Looks cold and warm at the same time. I suppose he is used to the icey bottom .... but it makes me shiver at the thought. The hot sun must feel good...that color is the perfect polar sun yellow I do believe.
