artstream Renovation

From time to time people stop by our gallery (yes it is artstream with an annoyingly small "a") and ask about our building. What was it before? (a hardware store, a sporting goods shop) How old is it? (104 yrs old) How much renovation did you people have to do to make it like it is today? That is when we pull out the photographs. Pictures speak a thousand words. It is hard to imagine four + years ago, as it is seems like it has always been this way. One local architect wrote a letter to the local paper about the renovation - here is an excerpt. And if you want to see some more photos you can click here. It is a beautiful building and it came with a lot of hard work.
The word for the day is ... shortcut ... my husband's nickname for his ability to use computer keystrokes, a way of quickening a recipe with less than good means and something which never works in building up something real and lasting.

I like how you remodelled your gallery. How you kept certain elements and painted it white..what vision you had to see this unfold!

You have touched on my recent obsession: restoration of pold places. The history of a place makes such a difference, don't you think? PS Love your experiments with collage and the latest Albina!
